Testosterone is secreted by the male testes, and is the main androgenic
hormone in the plasma of men. In women, testosterone is synthesized in small amounts by both the ovary and adrenal glands.
Just as women produce testosterone (the dominant male hormone), men produce estrogen (the dominant female hormone).
The role of testosterone in the female body during the early developmental
stages has been known for years. What has not been recognized until recently, is the invaluable role of testosterone
in a woman's post-menopausal, sexual, psychological, and physical well-being. As an androgenic hormone, testosterone
is considered an anabolic or "building" hormone. When the body becomes stressed, either from an emotional, physiological,
or physical activity, hormones like cortisol (known as a catabolic hormone) break tissue down to generate the energy needed
for maintenance and endurance of the body. Testosterone, along with other hormones, is used to maintain or help the
body build itself back up. By the time a woman goes through menopause, her testosterone level has dropped to about half
of what it was when she was younger.
This dramatic decrease in testosterone level can cause loss of interest
in sex, fatigue, irritability, depression, aches and pain in joints, thin and dry skin, osteoporosis, loss of muscle mass
and tone, and an increase of fat to muscle ratio. Men produce about 20 times more testosterone than women per day.
As a man ages, testosterone levels also drop, resulting in many of the same symptoms a woman experiences, and potentially
many more since testosterone has much of the same beneficial and protective effects in a man that estrogen has in a
woman.
SOURCE OF NATURAL TESTOSTERONE
We compound all of our hormonal preparations using only all-natural
(bio-identical), soy (plant derived), USP grade, micronized hormone powders. When we say bio-identical, we mean exactly
like that human body produces. We use no animal products. These products must not be confused with phyto (plant)
products, which many mimic to a small degree some of the body's own hormones, but are not considered to be bio-identical hormones.
All of our compounded preparations require a prescription from a licensed practitioner.
SOME OF THE USES OF TESTOSTERONE IN WOMEN

- Help maintain tissue tone
- Help preserve self-esteem and psychological well-being
SOME SIDE EFFECTS OF TOO MUCH TESTOSTERONE IN WOMEN

**If side effects should occur, call your practitioner or call us and we
will contact your practitioner. They will probably suggest reducing the dose or the frequency of dosing this hormone.
SUGGESTED starting DOSAGES AND APPLICATIONS (FOR
WOMEN)
Oral capsules: .5mg to 5mg (always
take with food for better absorption).
Topical Gel : 2mg/gm or 1/4 tsp; sometimes written
as 4mg/2.5gm. Start with 1/8 teaspoonful ( the small measuring spoon we supply with the gel when leveled off measures
1/8 tsp.) applied to soft tissue areas daily for at least 30 days. If the desired results have not been achieved in the first
30 days, we suggest that you increase the frequency of dosing to twice a day to same soft tissue areas.
**We suggest using the same site of application for at least three consecutive
days. This will give better tissue saturation and consequently, better absorption and results.
**The typical gels we make for topical application CANNOT be used on mucous membranes since they contain some USP
or medicinal alcohol.
**If you want a gel for application to mucous membranes, please let us know the application requirements of the gel.
Topical creams and ointments: The creams and ointments
which have historically been prescribed are generally stronger than the gels which we most often use. We therefore suggest
using only very sparingly, or as prescribed by your physician.
** The creams and ointments we use CAN be applied to mucous membranes.
